JUST WHO HAS THE ILLNESS OF THE MIND, installation view after on-site deconstruction, New York City, November 8-11 2018, Special Guest Artist By Invitation, The Other Art Fair. Additional installation view. Along with the 256 text elements themselves, the 25 colors represent both the breadth and varying intensity of the artist’s bipolar 1 thoughts and feelings on a particular subject when in a hypomanic (mild mania) state, thus providing the viewer with a proximate experience of having an “abnormal” mind. The artist recorded the amount of time his mind took to generate the 256 text statements and questions. All 256 elements came into his mind in less than 30 seconds of real time during a particularly productive hypomania.
